SOP For Assembling a PC

SOP For Assembling a PC

Open Computer Case

  1. Take your case out and remove the side panels. There are usually 2 screws in the back for each side panel. Usually there is a small packet with screws/stands, a power cord, and zip ties around the wires of the power supply (if it is included).
  2. Installing the Power Supply
  3. If you purchased a separate PSU, now is a good time to install the PSU. If the PSU is pre-installed, skip this step.
  4. Align the holes in the Power Supply and secure the power supply to the case using proper screws.
  5. Installing Optical Drive
  6. Remove the top-most one 5.25 drive bays covers in front of your Pc case. Once you have an open slot for your optical drive, put the front panel back on.
  7. Install the optical drive by sliding it in from the front of the PC (with the panel fully attached), then use 4 fine screws (2 on each side) to fasten it in place.
  8. Attached Components to the Motherboard
  9. Carefully place it in the socket on the motherboard and make sure you locked properly then put some Thermal compound in top surface of your CPU.
  10. If you have successfully put the CPU in the socket, the next move will be installing the Heat sink. You have to place the heat sink above the CPU and locked it properly.
  11. Plug the CPU fan power connector into the 4-pin CPU fan header on the motherboard. On most motherboards, this header will be located near the CPU socket:
  12. Insert the RAM into the RAM Slot. Line up the notch in the stick of RAM to the break in the slot. Set the stick into the slot and then apply equal pressure onto the stick until the clamps on the side click and lock the RAM. You may have to apply a fair amount of pressure, but never force it in.
  13. Installing the Motherboard
  14. The motherboard comes with a rear panel which you will want to use. Making sure to remove the one that may have come with the case first
  15. After installing the rare panel, the motherboard is now ready to install in the computer case. Plastic and metal standoffs are used to mount the motherboard and to prevent it from touching the metal portions of the case.
  16. Installing INTERNAL DRIVES
  17. Insert the HDD into the drive bay and line up with the screw holes in the case. Secure the HDD to the case using proper screws.
  18. Install Adapter Cards
  19. Adapter cards are installed to add functionality to a computer.
  20. Some examples of these adapters is Graphic card adapter is the interface between a computer and a display monitor. An upgraded video adapter card can provide better graphic capabilities for games and graphic programs. Video adapter cards use PCI, AGP, and PCIe expansion slots on the motherboard.
  21. Connect Internal Cables
  22. Power Cables are used to distribute electricity from the power supply to the motherboard and other components.
  23. Data cables transmit data between the motherboard and storage devices, such as Hard Drives and Optical Drives. Connect the cables in the motherboard.
  24. 3Additional connectors are from the front panel of the case to be connected on the motherboard. This are the power LED, power Switch, Audio port and for USB port front panel.
  25. Completing the PHYSICAL INSTALLATION
  26. Reattached the side covers and side panel to the main frame of the computer case. Then connect the external cables such as VGA cables, keyboard, mouse and Network cables. Power on and you are now ready to Install Operation System you want to use.
